The film is based off of Gerald Stern's celebrated poem Lucky Life, about summer friends, first published in a book of the same name (this book.). The feature film would become Oscar-nominated director Lee Isaac Chung first film; and nominated for a jury award for best narrative feature at the Tribeca Film Festival as well as a nomination for the Grand Prix at the Bratislava International Film Festival. Gerald Stern would author more than 20 books of poetry, and along the way he'd collect the Paris Review's Bernard F. Conners Award and a Guggenheim Fellowship and four NEA grants, to just name a few.
