The story depicts the experiences of six sky pilots: Frank Higgins of Minnesota; Aaron Maddox, Charles Atwood, Clarence Mason and Frank Reed of the Adirondacks; and William Burger of Northern New England. The author has spent forty-eight years in the North Woods and a few thousand evenings in lumber camps. His story is based on first-hand information." The book is nicely illustrated with several sections of vintage, b&w photos from the lumber camps of the North Woods.
Condition: This book is in very good condition. The dust jacket shows some edge wear, particularly at the top edge and a small, 1/2 inch tear there as well. The spine of the dust jacket seems a bit darkened from handling. The hard covers are pristine and the gilt titles on the spine bright and handsome. Inside, a former owner has left her penciled name just above that of the Author, on the front endpaper. I found no other marks in the book and the interior pages are bright white and clean, without toning or foxing. Both hinges are intact and the binding is tight and sound. This book is not ex-library or a remainder.
