Neville Spearman, UK. 1975. First edition. 160 pages. After working long and hard as editor of British Penthouse, "The Manitou" was the author's debut novel and soon to become a movie starring Tony Curtis, Susan Strasberg and Burgess Meredith, gone but not forgotten. The book has sharp, clean burgundy boards, a clean, tight gilt-lettered spine with just a suspicion of minimal heel softening, white, clean pages and an about fine dust-jacket. SIGNED, DEDICATED AND DATED OCT 28, 1988 BY THE AUTHOR (PROBABLY AT THE LONDON VENUE OF CHOICE, AT THE TIME, THE LOWEBRAU-SERVING CAFE MUENCHEN or at a local convention,).======================================================= Graham Masterton's debut as a horror author began with The Manitou in 1976, a chilling tale of a Native American medicine man reborn in the present day to exact his revenge on the white man. It became an instant bestseller and was filmed with Tony Curtis, Susan Strasberg, Burgess Meredith, Michael Ansara, Stella Stevens and Ann Sothern. Since then Graham has published more than 35 horror novels, including Charnel House, which was awarded a Special Edgar by Mystery Writers of America; Mirror, which was awarded a Silver Medal by West Coast Review of Books; and Family Portrait, an update of Oscar Wilde's tale, The Picture of Dorian Gray, which was the only non-French winner of the prestigious Prix Julia Verlanger in France. Graham's latest horror novels to be published in the United States are Spirit (Leisure, December, 2001); Trauma, (Signet, January, 2002) and The Chosen Child (Tor, January, 2002). Motion picture rights in Trauma have been optioned by Jonathan Mostow, who directed U-571. The Chosen Child, set in the sewers of Warsaw, was named Best Horror Novel of the Year by Science Fiction Chronicle and highly praised in Publisher's Weekly. (From the author's website).…

Terms of sale
ALL ITEMS are subject to prior sale. Items may be reserved for a period not exceeding seven (7) days, pending receipt of payment.
CONDITION: We pride ourselves on the exceptional quality of our stock in terms of ¿condition¿. The vast majority of our books are ¿very fine¿ or 'as new'. The qualitative differences of those items that do not conform to the ¿very fine¿ criterion are described accurately and in great detail. We are happy to supply digital photos of any item we stock, subject to availability (and the co-operation of a functioning scanner or digital camera).
PACKING: It is our aim that the books we ship reach you in exactly the same condition they are in when processed at our end. To this end, we pack, pad and protect them in such a way that, even if the shipment is dropped, the books will remain untouched and unblemished. We do not subscribe to the absurd, false economy of minimal padding. On the contrary, each book is wrapped in multiple layers of bubble wrap ¿ as many layers as it takes to ensure that the book remains completely untouched if dropped. Larger, boxed consignments enjoy the support of additional padding. The objective is to protect the books at all times against all likely mishaps. There is no charge for packing or padding materials.
RETURNS: We are assuming that you have made up your mind about the desirability of acquiring a specific item by the time you place the order. However, we do, of course, accept returns if the book you receive fails to conform to the description as provided by us on ABE and as kept on record by the digital photo in our stock library. It is in the interest of both parties that you place an order only if you are entirely certain that it is what you wish to do.
PAYMENT: Payment with order. Payment must be cleared before books are despatched. Payment by check or money order is subject to our prior approval. CREDIT CARDS: Only payment by Mastercard or Visa can be processed. We are using ABE¿s credit card payment processing facility for Mastercard and Visa, which attracts a not insubstantial charge. PRICES AND DISCOUNTS: All prices are net.
POSTAGE: Unregistered and uninsured shipments are made entirely at the buyer's risk. We, therefore, urge our customers to use a service of registered mail, with the option of additional insurance, depending on the shipment's value. In March 2014 the 'International Signed For' (registered mail) service - used in connection with overseas surface mail shipments - was withdrawn by the overseas postal authorities, meaning that surface mail shipments can no longer be registered or insured. To enjoy the security of registered/insured mail, the air mail AIRSURE service must be used at the appropriate additional cost. Although air mail is more expensive than surface mail, it is also a great deal safer and faster.
