Di Spires is an unassuming Warwickshire woman who, with husband Stuart, travelled the world in Formula 1 for 30 years, worked with five World Champions and become 'Mum' to some of the biggest names in the pitlane, as well as hundreds of the sport's unsung heroes. In all that time she ran the team motorhome for a succession of different teams, including Lotus in the Senna era and Benetton in the Schumacher era. Her memoir looks at Formula 1 from an unusual viewpoint. As well as Formula 1 people, she has encountered personalities from every walk of life, from royalty to criminals on the run. Her stories range from the hilarious to the tragic and provide a unique insight. This is a fast-paced read packed with surprising snippets and observations, with plenty of intimate insight into what the drivers are really like.

About the Author
With her husband Stuart, Di Spires spent 30 years running team motorhomes in the Formula 1 paddock and her experiences resulted in this book. Prior to that she was a civil servant working for ACAS (Advisory, Conciliation and Arbitration Service) resolving strikes, and such was the demand for ACAS's services at British Leyland that for a long time she had a permanent office there. Her co-author is also someone with two aspects to his working life. Bernard Ferguson has worked in motor racing for 40 years, 23 of them at Cosworth, latterly as Director of Motorsport. In retirement he decided to try his hand at writing by taking on this project with Di Spires.

Store description
I have collected books most of my life. My collection has reduced now to about 4,000 items. I list a few more as time goes by! It is difficult sometimes to allow old friends to move on. Of course, they can find fresh enthusiasm from their new owners. No matter how many items you handle, there's always excitement and interest. It is vital however that my items are described accurately and I would hope to offer good value. If you see something that you feel is 'too high' for your pocket, don't hesitate to make me an offer. I try to keep the postage costs down, and within the United Kingdom this will be free. Posting abroad will be competitive, and often I will not ask for additional amounts if this is viable. But weight of items is the deciding factor. I will add images to my descriptions, and I hope that the combination will help you to decide. Regardless, always double check or take time to contact me for further information, or merely just to clarify a point. Ask for more images. If I can reduce anything I will do so. If you purchase more than one item, then offering a decent discount is likely. If items are not as described or you have a valid problem with any item, then I am happy to make a full or partial refund. This will be in line with all Statutory guidelines e.g returning the book in the condition it was delivered, and do let me know as quickly as possible. If damage has occurred then try to provide images. Ring me on 01352-810931…
