Inscribed, dated (Sep. 19, 1947) and signed by author on fly title page: "Hon. Mr. Justice F.D. Hogg with the kind wishes of the author Grant F.W. Smith". Royal blue boards, gold lettering on spine, 396 deckled pages. Ends of spine lightly bumped and rubbed, tips of corners rubbed, roughened spot (1/2 inch) on top corner of ffep, first 3 pages - including frontispiece and tissue - wrinkled as though exposed to water, illustrations page between page 94 and 95 creased, else very good. Pages clean and bright throughout. DJ darkened on spine, smudged, dampstain along lower two-thirds of front flap fold, two tears (1/2 and 1/4 inch) on front upper flap and 1/2 inch tear on lower edge of front fold, top and bottom edge lightly chipped, two 1/4 inch pieces missing from top of spine and 1/2 piece missing from rear upper edge near spine, else good. Protected in mylar sleeve. Note: heavy book. Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. Seller Inventory # 001673
