A Professor Bastion mystery thriller; Percival Charles Rodda's twelfth book under the Gavin Holt pseudonym (Loder). The front free endpaper is inscribed 'To Aunt Rick and Ken, with love, Perce. Leaden Roding, 5th May, 1933' (from the South Australian-born author to relatives in Adelaide).
