"Marx's Concept of Man" is Erich Fromm's analysis of Karl Marx's ideas about human nature and how those ideas informed his economic and political theories. Karl Marx did not believe, as many contemporary sociologists and psychologists do, that there is such a thing as the nature of man-- that man at birth is like a blank sheet of paper on which the culture writes its text. Marx started with the idea that 'man' is a recognizable and ascertainable entity, that man can be defined as man not only biologically, anatomically and physiologically, but also psychologically. Erich Fromm "Marx's Concept of Man" includes translations of original economic and philosophical manuscripts of Karl Marx. 1st edition trade paperback-- minor outer wear, edge wear & light scuffing.
