Spine paper frayed, split at rear joint, and chipped at ends, but binding remains tight and sturdy, if slightly shaken. Laid in is small typed letter, addressed to "Paul" dated 1982, and signed by "Kit." Text block comprised of 4 large, sewn signatures. Biography of American landscape painter William Trost Richards, known for marine watercolors and realist views of New England. Black and white frontis portrait by the artist's daughter, Anna M. Richards, who was also a notable painter. 17 additional black and white plates, showing works spanning the artist's time in his Grey Cliff home in Jamestown, RI, where he lived and painted during the gilded age, as well as Newport, Point Judith, and other surrounding coastal areas. Several images also show paintings from travels to Ireland and Wales.
