About this Item
302 pp., index, bibliography, afterword, notes, photographs, maps. Limited to 990 copies in the first edition printing. A fine, unmarked, unblemished copy in a fine, bright, unblemished dust jacket. SIGNED BY THE AUTHOR AND CO-AUTHOR with no inscriptions. Both author's signatures in this fine book are unique to Tucson, Arizona and the 2006 Arizona Historical Society Convention, at which time both were in attendance. On January 27, 1861, an Apache raiding party attacked John Ward's ranch in the Sonoita Valley of southeastern Arizona and carried off Ward's thirteen-year-old stepson, Felix Telles. Thus began a remarkable odyssey in which a young Mexican American boy was transformed into an Apache warrior and eventually served as Indian Scout for the U.S. Army. Already considered by many to be the definitive work on Mickey Free. Well researched and written, an excellent book! Rare signed by both! UNIQUELY COLLECTIBLE. Seller Inventory # 004610-2
