This is the new printing of the Seventh Edition of the book first published in 1876, The Midland Railway, and has a new introduction by C.R.Clinker. The DJ has a slightly sunned spine, a slightly grubby back , all edges are worn with some chips and creases, see photo, and two small tears both about 3mm. There is a the remains of a an old sticky label , diameter 1.5cm, on the top of the front cover. The book has some mild foxing on the foredge only. One corner is bumped. It is well illustrated with many engravings and several maps. There are also extracts from reviews. There is also an index. xxii, 510pp This classic of railway history was such a success when first published in 1876 that this is the reprint of the seventh edition initially printed in 1888.
