1952. First edition. [v], 161pp. and a frontispiece portrait. Top edge gilt. Roderick Macleod (1870-1950) was born in Inverness-shire, educated in Scotland and trained for the ministry at the Free Church College in Glasgow. In 1903 he went to London before returning to Scotland as Superintendent of Highland Missions, and then served the Church of Scotland in the same capacity until his retirement in 1945. After a brief biographical note, this book contains 23 of his sermons. The book is bound in the original blue cloth covered boards with gild titling on the spine. The case of the book is in very good condition with bumping to the bottom of the spine. The contents are tight and clean with some light foxing on the half-title page and top edge of the frontispiece. A typewritten slip of paper reading "With Mrs. Roderiock Macleod's kind regards" has been attached to the front fixed endpaper. The unclipped dustwrapper hasd some shelf wear with light soiling and some foxing. There are two scrapes on the spine that have caused some damage that has been repaired on the reverse with tape. The spine ends are lightly bumped with small tears on the top corners of the spine.
