Item description from seller

One of 26 copies of this fine press edition of the letter Vonnegut wrote to his parents on May 29, 1945 informing them he is no longer missing in action and recounting his capture and escape from behind enemy lines. These events formed the basis of the novel Slaughterhouse-Five. "On about February 14th the Americans came over, followed by the R.A.F. Their combined labors killed 250,000 people in twenty-four hours and destroyed all of Dresden?possibly the world's most beautiful city. But not me." Bound in with the text is a black-and-white silkscreen portrait of Vonnegut's alter-ego, Kilgore Trout. A screenprint of a bomb with the legend "Goodbye Blue Monday" is laid in, as issued. [10] leaves. First edition (first printing). A fine copy in a fine slipcase. Signed by Vonnegut with a self-portrait. Copy B of 26; laid-in print also letter B. Small printed label with the letter B is also laid in, as issued.
