The son of Queen Victoria's half-nephew, he served as a Page of Honour to the Queen for five years and became a Major General of the Grenadier Guards. He wrote a number of travel works detailing his time abroad, such as 'With the Camel Corps up the Nile', and 'A Guardsman's Memories'.Inscribed by the author to J. L. Harrington, with the author's compliments.
