Publisher's original black Holliston Novelex cloth with bright gilt lettering stamped to spine, in original pictorial dust jacket with publisher's $4.00 price intact on front flap; cloth clean, jacket showing mild, uniform age-toning to spine panel and upper edges, with faint rubbing at tips. Text block clean, tightly bound, and unmarked throughout with negligible dusting to top edge. Colophon notes an edition of 2,500 copies (with Arkham records citing 2,546 copies delivered by The Collegiate Press). An Arkham House collection of seventeen macabre tales written by August Derleth under his Stephen Grendon pseudonym, originally published between 1944 and 1952 in Weird Tales and other pulp magazines. Features hallmark entries including "The Tsantsa in the Parlor," "Mrs. Manifold," and the title story "Mr. George," which was twice dramatized for television, notably on Boris Karloff's Thriller.
