First Statement Press, Montreal, 1948.First Edition, First State with the controversial forward present and which was excised from almost all copies. This one with an early April 20th, 1948 inscription escaped Layton's razor. Publisher's plain card covers, grey outer wrapper illustrated in red & black. A very good or better copy of the author's uncommon second book showing light use. Inscribed by Layton on the ffe.: "For my brother Larry / With love & Esteem / Irving / Montreal, Que / April 20th 1948". Contains both poems & stories. An excellent example in first state.No. [5] in the publisher's New Writers' Series. Seller Inventory # 33062
