Inscribed First Edition of this iconic work of street photography in which a tabloid-inflected perspective creates an emblematic portrait of 1940s New York. A source book for the film noir classic, "The Naked City." The film makers had acquired rights to the book and drew upon Weegee's work for the look and vibe of the movie. The film, of course, includes one of the most resonant popular culture lines of the era: "There are eight million stories in the naked city. This has been one of them." Inscribed by Weegee (in green ink) to a previous owner on the dedication page. Tan course-textured cloth, 245 pages. No dust jacket. An excellent copy, very light edge wear.
