New York: Hurd and Houghton, 1870. 8vo, xv, 201 p., original green cloth with spine and front board stamped in gilt and frontis portrait of Read. First and only edition of this scarce work on Nathan Read (1759-1849), the American steam pioneer and engineer, written by his nephew and illustrated with black and white plates. Spine and rear board very heavily discolored, corners bumped, with lower corner of text block bumped, else a VG copy. INSCRIBED by Rad on the first free blank. Scarce.
