New Light on Franklin

A rare book inscribed to the late journalist, broadcaster and author John Arlott - 'Mr.John Arlott, With best wishes.I have inserted a few additional items of information that have come to hand since printing. Noel Wright, May 1958.' One is on page 80 after Wright has drawn a diagram of a sign with a big hand clearly pointing set up by Franklin's crews on Beechey Island where the first graves were discovered in the summertime when they could drive the post deep into the ground. It says 'I have since tracked down the sign to the R.U.S.I and was disconcerted to find that the hand is in no way the bold and forceful sign depicted in the I.L.N.'.
