A fantastic collection of eighty-four volumes of The New Naturalist, with volumes spanning seven decades. All but eight volumes are first editions, and all retain their original dust wrapper. An exceptional eighty-four volume set of works from 'The New Naturalist Library', a series published by Collins on a variety of natural history topics relevant to the British Isles.Seventy-six volumes are first editions, with only eight being later editions or printings. Each volume retains the original dust wrapper. Seventeen are price clipped, with sixty-six unclipped. One volume, 'Weeds and Aliens' by Sir Edward Salisbury, is signed by the author. The books were written in a scientific yet accessible style, intended to be readable by non-specialists. The books of the series have had considerable influence on the study of biology, and many of the authors who wrote the later works were inspired by the long running nature of the series. Being a numbered series with a very low print run for some volumes, they are highly collectable. Sets as large as this are exceptionally scarce.Present here are:1. 'Butterflies' by E. B. Ford. The 1945 first edition in unclipped dust wrapper. With 56 colour plates. Collated, complete.2. 'British Game' by Brian Vesey-Fitzgerald. The 1946 first edition in clipped dust wrapper.
