This a signed copy of "Nine Chains to the Moon" by R. BUCKMINSTER FULLER, American architect, systems theorist, writer, designer inventor, philosopher, and futurist. 1938 1st edition, 1st printing; J.B. Lippincott Company; Philadelphia and New York. Fuller's signature appears in black ink on the front pastedown. The book contains in-text illustrations, a map on the front end paper, and two fold-outs within the Appendix section at the back. Found within the book are five typed pages related to the book titled "Notes on 'Nine Chains to the Moon' by R. Buckminster Fuller" printed on "Naval Receiving Station" letterhead. From a review: "In 1938, inventor Buckminster Fuller observed that the Earth's population, standing up on each other's shoulders, would form nine complete chains to the Moon. Fuller's striking metaphor illustrates his proposal that imaginative uses of limited resources can result in extraordinary achievements. Hailed by Newsweek as 'a guide book and a dream book of the future,' this volume offers innovative solutions for improving the quality of life through progressive design." Condition: Soiling to the covers and spine. Sharp cover corners. Tight binding with no cracks and no loose pages. Both covers are firmly attached. The pages are age-toned, though not brittle; clean with no stains or writing; a few pages at the front have a bit of foxing at the bottom. Pages 5-10 are a bit crinkled out the outer edge with a couple small tears. Fuller's signature appears in black ink on the front pastedown. Overall the book is in Good condition.
