Published in 1920 by T.N. Fouls.In the publisher's original quarter cloth, with blue paper boards. MacDiarmid's signed inscription is to the blank before half-title, dated to 1962.This particularly early work is one of the first written by Charles Murray Grieve, before he ever used the pen name Hugh MacDiarmid. A recent First World War veteran and a journalist at the time, MacDiarmid would become a key figure in Scottish poetry, writing in a 'Synthetic Scots' which fused many local dialects.In this anthology, he wishes to bring to light the excellent work of contemporary Scottish poets, with all the contributors, including Neil Munro, John Ferguson and Violet Jacobs, being personal friends.
