Add to basketSIGNED TWICE in full & INSCRIBED TWICE by legendary author/film-director Jean Renoir in the year of publication, as follows. The first inscription in black marker appears on the half-title page: "To Tom Frandsen with the hope of meeting him again. Sincerely, Jean Renoir - Dec. 1966". The second inscription, also in black marker, appears on the title page: "This book will be happy into the hands (?) of Tom Frandsen - Jean Renoir". Signed & inscribed twice by the legendary film-director, & son of the famed Impressionist painter Auguste Renoir. Jean Renoir (1894-1979) was born in Paris, France, & died in Beverly Hills, California. The recipient of the inscription is Tom Frandsen, a veteran TV host and newsman whose appearances were a tradition in Southern California living rooms. He wrote news and was host of an afternoon movie and talk show. 'Tom Frandsen FYI' became one of the highest-rated afternoon shows in the area. Translated by Norman Denny. FIRST EDITION, stated. The author's first novel, published the same year as the first French edition. Printed in the USA. Bound in original full cream cloth with bright blue & pink lettering to spine, in publisher's unclipped pictorial dustjacket (retaining original published price of $5.95 on inner front flap). Upper corner of purple ffep lightly rubbed (faint eraser mark), a couple of tiny spots to the edge of book block, otherwise the book is NEAR FINE. The dustjacket front panel is lightly rubbed, has mild edgewear, & bookseller's small ink stamp to inner front flap, otherwise a VG clean complete unclipped copy. The dustjacket is now protected in a removable clear Bro-dart cover. Overall a very nice clean tight solid hardcover copy. 316pp. Scarce SIGNED copy with two inscriptions & interesting association. RARE.
