A presentation copy, inscribed to Lois and Philip Jessup: "For Lois and Phil, with my love, `Bobs,' Cornella Otis Skinner," on the half-title page; accompanied by a hand-written note and typed letter, both from Skinner. ---- Lois Walcott Kellogg Jessup (1898-1986) worked tirelessly for the American Friends Service Committee, the U.S. Children's Bureau (preparing reports on children in Europe during Second World War, and the United Nations, advocating for women's rights around the world. She married Philip C. Jessup, a judge on the International Court of Justice and veteran U. S. diplomat, credited with playing a major role in ending the Soviet blockade of West Berlin.
