About this Item

Description:

1st Edition. Hardcover. Signed by Author(s). Presentation Copy, First Edition, Third Printing (December 1935; first published October 1935). 8vo., 309pp. Hardcover. Signed & inscribed presentation copy. A very good example, showing some light wear and soiling to the boards, with a strong binding and a fresh, clean interior. Inscribed by Rose Wilder Lane on the title page to her friend Elsie Jackson in England, June 1937-an especially desirable association. Rose Wilder Lane, the only surviving child of Laura Ingalls Wilder (author of the Little House books), was a distinguished journalist, novelist, travel writer, and political theorist. Books inscribed by either Rose Wilder Lane or Laura Ingalls Wilder are notably scarce. By the time Little House in the Big Woods appeared in 1932, Lane had already published more than ten books of biography and fiction. Her influence on her mother's work is widely acknowledged: Lane served as her mother's editor and advisor, and many scholars believe she played a key role in shaping the Little House manuscripts, though the exact extent of her contributions remains a subject of scholarly discussion. Beyond her literary work, Lane was also a seminal voice in American libertarian thought, later recognized alongside contemporaries such as Isabel Paterson and Ayn Rand. A rare and significant signed presentation copy. Seller Inventory # 34182
