Red dust jacket rubbed with slight soiling; scuffs, bumping, and several minor tears at edges. Red cloth; slight bumping to spine ends; vibrant gilt stamping to spine and front board. Author's six-line ink inscription "For | Mrs Jo Ann Casey | Just some more | of the Casey family | Hope you enjoy it. | Pat" upon title page (the author signing with his preferred familiar name with the inscribee being his widowed sister-in-law and thus a family association copy); interior leaves are otherwise clean. Binding is firm. A near fine copy in a very good dust jacket. Concluding section paged as 1-62 features "Extracts From 1894 Souvenir Book of the Washington Artillery of New Orleans." With Introduction, b/w illustrations including maps, and seven color plates on pages 139-142.
