Small 8vo. 8vo., 174pp. Beautiful First Edition of Ade's homage to pre-prohibition watering holes. the saloon. Bound in multi-colored cloth with titles stamped in black on front board and spine. Square, tight and clean throughout with little or no wear save some softness to the spine ends. No toning or foxing. Quite well-preserved. Equally attractive unclipped dust-jacket, ($1.50), has 1" inch split along the top front hinge that is almost unnoticeable. Spine mildly toned. A bit of rubbing to hinges and but still fresh and bright with no chipping or creases. Long , and quite quirky, inscription on the recto of the frontispiece, "So many things have happened in the liquor trade since this book was written that now I am not so certain regarding the accuracy of my predictions. The old-time saloon has not come back but now we have taverns and night clubs which provide rather startling backgrounds for most of the convivial habits promoted by the farmer's buffets, bar-rooms and hell-holes.
