Tipped-in opposite the half-title p. is a signed, large color photo of Erich Rudorffer. He flew for JG 2, 4, 5, & 7 during the war. He had 222 air victories & an incredible career: on 19 Aug. 1942 he shot down 8 British aircraft in 32 minutes, on 6 Nov 1943 he shot down 13 Russians in 17 min., he had 12 victories in the German jet, he flew over 1,000 missions of which over 300 were combat missions. He was shot down 16 times & baled out 9 other times. He sank a British submarine. He won the Knights Cross w/oak leaves & swords, the Iron Cross 1st & 2nd class & the German Cross.
