The interior is pristine, and many of the illustrations are tipped in. The front cover of an exhibition catalogue from the Marlborough Gallery, in New York or London, of an exhibit of contemporary masters featuring a Kokoschka painting, has been attached to the front endpaper. (The painting, Istanbul, postdates this book. ) Otherwise, I see no markings or notations. The lightly worn but fully intact jacket is now protected by a mylar Brodart cover. A celebration of the artwork of Oskar Kokoschka, an Austrian artist, poet, playwright, and teacher best known for his intense expressionistic works, as well as his theories on vision which influenced the Viennese Expressionist movement. Written by Hans Maria Wingler, a German art historian who specialised in expressionist painting. In the original beige cloth binding. Externally, very smart with minor fading to the extremities. Original price clipped dust wrapper is smart with wear to the extremities and minor chipping. The odd small closed tear and a 1" closed tear to the head of the spine. Sunning to the spine.
