1948, first edition thus. Inscribed by author A. E. van Vogt on the title page, and signed by both authors without inscription on flyleaf following the title page. Dust jacket in protective sleeve shows a lot of wear: creasing, rubbing, sporadic small closed tears, and minor chipping to all edges; larger chip from spine foot, and an inch and a half missing at spine head; remnants of attempted tape repair at corners; dampstaining at fore-edges and at rear cover beside fore edge, with rear cover also showing more general, allover soiling/scuffing. Boards are light blue and have heavy, pale wear/discoloration along edges, particularly at fore edges - likely water damage. Dampstaining to lower fore edge of both endpapers. Pages/text a little stiff, but free of dampstaining; moderately age-toned, but clean and straight. Firmly attached to the spine, with the binding tight. Signed First Edition.
