First Edition. Hardback. Dust Jacket. Loosely inserted typed signed letter on headed paper to the writer and humorist E,V. Knox, dated 9th January 1952, concerning a critical review in The Tatler:" I think it was Mme George Sand who said the truth and literature seldom went together, I felt that in this case the truth would give the study an undoubted value." 8vo. pp 264. Original publisher's black cloth, lettered gilt at the spine. Publisher's retained copy with their neat stamp and publishing date on the front endpaper and 'file copy' label on the front panel of jacket. Very good indeed in very good dust jacket.
