The artist/photographer's first and only contribution to the One Picture Book Series, which culminates the multi-page poem by Freddy De Vree. "The Belgian photographer, author, and critic Julien Coulommier has been an important figure in Western European avant-garde art since the early 1950's. His association with Otto Steinert led Coulommier to be seen as a representative of subjective photography in Belgium and Holland, but his most important stimulus came from the Belgian surrealist Marcel Broodthaers, with whom he became friends. Coulommier started out at a time when abstract art and figurative art were seen very much as separate genres. With great skill and imagination he has melded these opposing styles, presenting the abstract figuratively and the figurative in an abstract way. He has long been concerned with exploring the difference between knowledge about things and images of them. Freddy De Vree has written a memorable and vividly descriptive poem in honor of Coulommier's work and it complements perfectly the original print tipped into the final page of each book" (Publisher's blurb). An absolute "must-have" title for Julien Coulommier and Freddy De Vree collectors. This is a copy of the Limited Edition, indicated/numbered as such in pencil on the Back Limitation Page. It comes with an original print that is very prominently, neatly, and beautifully numbered and signed in black ink-pen on verso by Julien Coulommier. This title is a contemporary art photography classic. This is one of few copies of the Limited Edition still available online and is in especially fine condition: Clean, crisp, and bright. A rare signed copy thus. 1 poem, 1 original print. One of the most brilliant artist/photographers of our time. A fine copy. (SEE ALSO OTHER ONE PICTURE BOOK TITLES IN OUR CATALOG) ISBN 1590050037.…
