A fine copy in gray boards with gilt spine lettering in a fine dustwrapper.There are a few specks of /spotting on the top page block This short book is the epilogue to his trilogy Ackerman Bound. The story follows Roth's alter ego Nathan Zuckerman on a journey to Communist Prague in 1976, seeking the unpublished manuscripts of a Yiddish writer. The book, presented as journal entries by Zuckerman, details the struggle of demoralized artists in a totalitarian society. Harold Bloom commented: "It is the best of Roth, a kind of coda to all his fiction so far.at once the bleakest and the funniest writing Roth has done." The author has signed this copy on the title page.
