About this Item

A beautiful award certificate "moved" by Alderman Sir Bosdin T. Leech and Councillor Vaudrey in thanks and celebration of the services a former Lord Mayor of Manchester, Alderman Abraham Evans Lloyd. It consists of two boards bound, in gilt and red decorated, leather folding together. Inside it is bordered in leather and silk to frame each page, which is beautifully illustrated by hand in a wonderful array of colours, with a short citation text in an excellent calligraphic hand, and the signature of the contemporary Lord Mayor of the City, J. Foulkes Roberts and the Town Clerk, Henry Talbot. Faint marks to boards. It is housed in a brown box, which is worn at exremities, and starting at two corners. Binding and citation fine, in vg only box.
