First edition and first printing. Signed by the author on title page. There is a letter from the author enclosed which has the same signature so this can be authenticated. There is also a typed narrow slip attached to the front free end paper which is: " the author is giving profits from the book to The Imperial Cancer Research Fund'. The boards are orange/tan coloured and with dark brown titles to front and spine. They are in near fine condition and tight, flat and clean and with very slight wear to spine ends. The end papers and cut edges are white and clean. The text block is firmly attached to the boards and straight and clean - near fine plus condition. Not annotated. With black and white frontispiece of Thomas Beckett. In very good pale tan patterned dust jacket with black titles and heads of man/woman. The jacket is clean; spine ends have tiny open and closed tears. Not price clipped. In removable protective sleeve. Rare edition.

Our Bookshop is in Copse Road in Clevedon and is open every day, seven days a week, from 10.00am to 5.00pm. The Bookshop Co-operative comprises nearly 650 members from around the world and was set up to stop the only second-hand bookshop in our town from closing. The benefit of being a member/shareholder is only social: no-one benefits financially. All profits are used to improve the bookshop and its stock, and, through events, to contribute to the literacy and literary profile of our town. We take care to describe our books accurately and in detail, and to pack them so that they arrive with you in the same condition that they leave us. However,
should you not be completely satisfied with your purchase, then you may return
the books(s) to us and, provided you do this within 30 days of receiving the
book(s), then we will fully refund the cost of the book and postage.

Shipping Terms

We pack our books in corrugated book wrap or book boxes. We try to respond to orders the same day as we receive them or during the next business day. Shipping costs are based on books weighing up to 1.1 lb, or 0.5KG. If your book order is particularly heavy or oversized, we may contact you to request an additional payment to cover extra postage costs.
