First edition, limited and signed issue. Small octavo. 127pp. Illustrated from photographs. Neat, early gift inscription on front fly, else fine in price-clipped dust jacket with a tiny scuff on the spine, a fresh copy. The classic account of the violent race riot which took place in August 1949 at a Robeson concert in Peekskill, New York. This is copy number 141 of 500 copies of this issue Signed by the author Howard Fast; the dedicatee, Paul Robeson; and William L. Patterson, who wrote the introduction (although Patterson didn't sign a substantial number of copies of this issue); this copy has all three signatures present. An especially bright copy.
