Patterson (who wrote the introduction) and Paul Robeson (the dedicatee). The classic account of the violent race riot which took place in August 1949 at a Robeson concert in Peekskill, NY. Robeson having been accused of being a Communist and with a fabricated "deep fake" statement put out of the wires, white supremicists descended on the concert, physically attacked audience members and burned Robeson in effigy, all while the local police stood by. Blockson 8309 Publisher's cloth, dust jacket. Minor soiling and light offsetting or toning around the edges to the jacket, else very good First Edition.
