BLUM, Richard (Tom Adams). A Small Personal Archive comprising two inscribed first editions together with an original Christmas photographic greeting. - An exceptionally appealing association collection relating to the American author, psychologist and anthropologist Richard Hosmer Adams Blum (1927-), who also published fiction under the pseudonym Tom Adams. - The archive consists of: 1. Death and Festivals. London: Robert Hale, 1968. First edition, first impression. Original cloth in the original dustwrapper. Inscribed by the author on the front free endpaper: "To John / Very best to you / Dick." and 2. Old Tom, Young Tom. Portola Valley: American Lives Endowment / Robert Hale, 1984. First edition, first impression. Original cloth in the original dustwrapper. Inscribed: "To John / in friendship, & very best wishes / Tom / AKA Dick." - The inscription is particularly revealing in that the author explicitly acknowledges both his literary pseudonym and his personal identity. The volume also contains approximately fifty-one contemporary pencil proof-reading corrections throughout the text. Whether these represent an author's review copy, a proof-reading exercise or a careful reader's annotations remains unknown but they considerably enhance the interest of the volume. and 3. An original personalised photographic Christmas greeting reading: "Merry Christmas & Happy New Year - Dick." - The greeting is composed of a montage of personal photographs and was clearly sent to the same recipient as the two inscribed volumes, providing excellent provenance for the collection. - A particularly attractive and coherent literary archive documenting the personal relationship between Richard Blum, his pseudonym Tom Adams and one of his friends. Collections of this nature seldom survive intact and offer considerably greater historical interest than isolated signed books. - END - Our orders are shipped within 1 or 2 business days. Most postage destinations offer a tracked and signed for service and in these cases, this is the postage method I will use. To certain locations, I may only be able to use a Tracked postal service, and will do so, but all goods are sent fully insured so you have the best protection available. At the end of the day, I want my customers to be happy with the experience of buying from me. I guarantee all of my descriptions and will be happy to accept returns if there is an error in these descriptions. If a refund is agreed, the Buyer will arrange to return the item(s) in the original packing or to a similar standard. The Seller will send a refund, when the returned goods are received and inspected. The refund will include postage costs if there has been an error in the description. If there are no errors and the buyer returns the goods because they have changed their minds, the return postage costs will not be refunded. Thank you again.
Very occasionally I may not be able to fulfill our contract as the item may be missing or just misplaced, so I reserve the right of cancellation of the contract I have created with you through a sale. I thank you for this. Kind Regards, Martin Bradley
