About this Item
First edition. Signed and inscribed by editor Joseph Campbell on front free endpage: "For Maya with love from Joe". Recipient almost certainly the famed filmmaker and anthropologist Maya Deren, who was close friends with Joseph Campbell, with Campbell providing the preface to her work on Haiti, "Divine Horsemen", published in 1953. Campbell edited this collection of Heinrich Zimmer's papers, which was published as volume XXVI of the Bollingen series. About very good book in fair only dust jacket. No markings besides Campbell's inscription. Firmly bound. Dust jacket chipped and worn, with some staining and partial loss to fold of front flap. A remarkable association copy, and a scarce early personal inscription from Campbell. Seller Inventory # 003315
