Pilgrims and Pioneers. Hutchinson 1946 nd 1st edn hardback. Blue boards with gilt titles to spine. A few marginal perforations to blank front endpaper and minor shelfwear otherwise very good in sound binding.Unclipped 12/6 jacket shows markings, rubbing and corner repairs. Front endpaper bears the inscription " To my good friend F.R. Lewis? with all good wishes from the humble scribe Headley Hants Oct? '46. Also included is the scarce booklet " How we launched THe Pilgrims" by Sir Harry. This rare booklet was published for members of The Pilgrims in 1962 to celebrate the Diamond Jubilee of the Anglo-American orginisation. The author was 90 when he wrote it. Booklet is slightly rusty to the staples but is in very good condition with no inscriptions or markings and firm binding. With the lot comes a letter dated Sept '62 on Sir Harry's stationary which was sent to "Reg" and signed by the author. The Pilgrims had their inaugural meeting in Great Britain on 16 July 1902 at which Sir Harry, a Founding Father attended. Membership today includes Queen Elizabeth.
