Welch, with the warm regards of Fabian Franklin," on the front endpaper. ---- The recipient, William Henry Welch, noted physician, pathologist, bacteriologist, founded the Johns Hopkins School of Hygiene and Public Health, the first school of public health in the country. Welch's friend and colleague Franklin taught mathematics at Johns Hopkins for nearly two decades. A compelling presentation copy.
