The biographical note for the collection at the Lily Library summarize the Press thus: "Raintree Press of Bloomington, Indiana was founded in 1975 by Fredric Aldwyn Brewer, professor of telecommunications at Indiana University, and specializes in the printing of ephemera in which text, type face, paper, and design are combined to produce a unified effect. Several full-size books have also been published by Raintree Press. . . .".
