2 volumes (volume 1 second edition, volume 2 first edition), each poem apart from 4 (The Rosciad, The Farewell, Independence, and Fragment of Journey) has a separate half-title, in volume 2 each has separate pagination and register and all apart from The Candidate and The Times are apparently reissues, without titlepages, of the separately published editions of 1764, and in the case of Journey, of 1765, the last page of Journey is signed by J Churchill (his son and executor), (iv) 369 [1] / (iv) [2] 19 [1] [2] 19 [1] [2] 48 [2] 24 [2] 32 [2] 31 [1] [2] 38 24 [2] 33 [1] 28 8pp, volume half titles, engraved portrait mounted on front blank in volume 1, contemporary calf (boards scratched and rubbed, boards showing at the corners, inner hinges reinforced), recently rebacked in keeping with new black morocco labels, volume numbers on the spines incorrect (vol 2 for 1 and vol 1 for 2), the preliminairies of volume 1 and 2 leaves in volume 2 toned, there is a waterstain to the lower fore-corner of The Journey not affecting the text, some light foxing (heavier on the last few leaves of volume 2, 4to (262x204mm), ESTC T149216/T98902.
