1st edition, 1st printing. This copy inscribed "Robert Frost, Bread Loaf Vermont, 1943, to Ellen Kraft." Also with 2 photographs laid in, and sure to put a smile on any American's face: Frost playing baseball at the Bread Loaf Writers Conference, the thoroughly American of poets playing a thoroughly American sport with other American writers. With extensive commentary by Louis Untermeyer, full-color double-page illustrations on both pastedowns and frontispiece, and bucolic black and white etchings throughout by John O'Hara Cosgrave. The spine has some dampstaining to the head and heel, and slight wear to the corners, but otherwise is in very nice shape; no rubbing, very clean text, and no browning. The DJ has chipping and a few tears on the spine, edges and corners, and some aging as well. With a protective mylar cover. Seller Inventory # 344
