Add to basketFrederic Ridgely Torrence was an American poet closely associated with the Harlem Renaissance, a pivotal period in African American literary and cultural history. His work often explored themes of racial identity, social justice, and the African American experience. He was poetry editor of The New Republic (1920 33), mentoring Louise Bogan. He organized the National Survey of the Negro Theater (1939), for the Rockefeller Foundation. Inscribed to Rodney G. Dakin, Principal Fairfield Whitney School in Everett, MA, with a poem dedication. First printing with dust jacket that has some foxing and chips. Blue boards, gilt lettering on the spine with some loss at the bottom. 5¾" - 8¾".
