First edition. Presentation copy, inscribed by the author to the poet Vernon Scannell. Slim 8vo. Near fine publisher's cloth, a little light offset to front and rear endpapers, green dustwrapper is a bit shelf-worn and a half-inch tear to the rear seems to have been repaired, in all very good, inscribed in ink upon the front endpaper: 'for Vernon Scannell, with best wishes. Bryan Johnson, 19/2/64'. From a poet to another poet - BSJ who has attained cult status on account of his suicide at the age of just 40 - to one who was much feted and won a string of awards during his lifetime. A lovely presentation item.
