Item description from seller

8vo, i-x, 230 pp, blue cloth rather faded on the spine, some spotting to the text, a decent copy of the 2nd impression published the same year as the first edition. A warmly inscribed copy from Eric Partridge to Dr Eric J Holmyard , chemist and authority on the history of science and lecturer at Clifton College. The inscription consists of two paragraphs, hand written and dated 1953. Also loosely inserted is Eric Partridge's 4 page Christmas greeting card for 1955 which is a 4 page essay on the word 'Elephantine'. An interesting copy.
