Add to basketSigned by Diego Rivera at the top of the front blank. This from the collection of his Mexico City contemporary Jose de la Macorra, Jr. who was president (from 1897 to 1936) of the San Rafael Paper Company (Compania Fabricas De Papel De San Rafael) headquartered in the federal district. Macorra's business card is laid in and had been attached with a paperclip that became rusty over the decades, leaving a little mark. Touch of light spotting to the front blank, drop or two of coffee on back bottom edge, otherwise tight and clean. A lovely copy of a book that rarely appears signed. Jose de la Macorra was a major industrialist, apparently fluent in English, and authored a short history (in 1948) of paper-making in Mexico. On the back inner board is a period gold-foil bookseller tag for a shop that was located on Juarez Street, just across the Vivero Coyoac n from Frida's Blue House. This copy was thus likely signed locally by Rivera after he returned from New York in 1934.
