While on my personal journey for reconciliation with God, I witnessed the power in speaking the Word over my circumstances and life. I embarked on a journey of writing scriptural prayers for my 12-step recovery journey. I also wrote prayers for battles with my flesh. My system of personal flesh cards made for easy reference and accessibility to take authority over my flesh. My personal testimony exposes dark secrets of my past, and the years of longing for meaning and purpose through a spiritual connection with Jesus Christ. My human trafficking experience from long ago could no longer overshadow my life. My self-help would be my self-surrender to God, who would take me on a journey showing me He is the owner of my body, soul and spirit, and the importance each plays in my recovery. Albeit the journey of a lifetime, my joy is restored and my feet are planted firmly on solid ground through Christ Jesus.

About the Author: Sheila Rivera, nee McDonald, is the working mother of 4 grown children and 3 grandchildren. She currently works at home doing medical transcription. She has worked over 30 years in the medical field in marketing and was a personal assistant to many teaching surgeons. She has "wrestled" with God to find meaning, purpose and joy beyond the confines of worldly gain. She is blessed to be a volunteer facilitator for the Celebrate Recovery 12-step program at Lakewood Church and Star of Hope/New Hope programs in Houston, Texas. She is Executive Director of Broken Not Shattered Ministry. She is a volunteer at Redeemed Ministries in Houston. She is dedicated to sharing and speaking about her life story to men and women in the Houston Metropolitan area, as this is a hub for the human trafficking business. She is thankful for God's unrelenting pursuit of her, to bring her into the fulfillment of a Kingdom-centered relationship with Jesus.
