1st printing (1947). G12pp. Original black cloth with red and grey titles and decoration to front cover and spine. SIGNED by the author on ffep verso in black ink and inscribed to English writer and Bloomsbury group member Julia Strachey (1901-1979). This book was acquired from the library of her ex-husband, the English Establishment artist Sir Lawrence Gowing (1918-1991). VG copy, binding square and tight, cloth covers clean, spine titles a little dulled, internally excellent, no dust jacket but for some remnants laid in.
