Four octavo volumes (21cm); original cloth and paper-covered boards, titled in silver and gilt on spines and front covers; variously colored topstains; dustjackets; [viii],[2],3-307,[5]; [viii],[2],3-406,[2]; [viii],[2],3-467,[5]; [x],[2],3-512,[6]pp. Rabbit At Rest is signed by Updike on the title page, with the remaining volumes inscribed by Updike "For Dan" on their respective title pages, dated in 2008.Rabbit, Run shows mild sunning to board edges, spine ends gently nudged, with topstain a bit dulled, and a tiny ink number to upper rear pastedown; Very Good+ or better in a supplied, first state jacket, unclipped (priced $4.00), showing modest external wear, gentle sunning to spine, with a 1.75" closed tear to lower front flap fold, a dampstain to base of spine panel (encroaching slightly into front and rear panels), and some moisture staining along the rear flap fold; Very Good. Remaining volumes Near Fine or better in Near Fine, unclipped dustjackets. All housed in a custom dark brown morocco slipcase. A handsome set of Updike's most enduring novels, charting the life of Harry "Rabbit" Angstrom from his glory days as a high school basketball player through his retirement.
